Privacy
Plain words about what WillsVoice keeps, where, and why.
The short version
- No ads. We don't sell data.
- No trackers, no analytics, no advertising cookies.
- We only keep what the app needs to work.
- You can ask us to delete your family's data at any time.
If you don't make a family account
You can use WillsVoice without signing up. Then your child's board, words, pictures, photos, schedules, plans, settings, and the grown-up passcode are kept only on that device, in the web browser's storage. We don't receive them.
Without a family account, tapping Mom or Dad opens your phone's own text messaging app with the sentence filled in. That text goes through your phone company, not through us.
If you make a family account
A family account lets the same board work on more than one device and lets messages go between your child and your phone. Then these things are saved in our database:
- Your sign-in: your email address, the name you type (optional), and your password, which is stored scrambled (hashed), not as plain text. While you're signed in, the sign-in system also records the device's internet address (IP) and browser type for that session.
- Your child's board: your child's first name, the words and pictures you add, any photos you choose for pictures (made smaller first), the names and phone numbers of the people your child can send to, the grown-up passcode, and settings.
- Routines and plans: schedules, today's progress, My plan picks, and Coming up plans.
- Word counts: how often words are used, so you can see progress.
- Messages: sentences your child sends and replies from grown-ups. Old messages are deleted automatically after 90 days, and only the latest 200 are kept.
- Family members: the names and roles (like Mom or Dad) of grown-ups in the family, and invite codes, which expire after 7 days.
- Phone notifications: if you turn them on, a notification address for that device. The buzz itself is delivered by your phone's notification service (from Apple, Google, or Mozilla, depending on the device).
What stays on the device
The spoken voice uses your device's own built-in voice, so what your child says out loud isn't sent to us. The board, passcode, and settings are also kept on the device so the app works offline.
Who helps run WillsVoice
- Vercel hosts the app and this website.
- Neon runs the database where family accounts are stored, in the US.
- xAI: If a grown-up uses Tell us about your kid, what they type is sent to an AI service (xAI) to suggest buttons. It isn't used to train AI models and isn't kept by that service.
- The app's letter style (Nunito) is stored with WillsVoice. Your browser does not ask Google for it.
This website has no cookies, no analytics, and no outside scripts or fonts.
Deleting your family's data
In the app, open Grown-ups, open Family account, and tap Delete account and all data. Type DELETE to confirm. That removes the board, messages, children, and sign-in sessions.
If you cannot open the app, use the public deletion page at app.willsvoice.com/delete-account, or write to hello@willsvoice.com from the email address you signed up with.
To clear a single device without deleting the family account, open Grown-ups and tap Reset this device.
Kids
WillsVoice is made to be used by children with a grown-up setting it up. A grown-up creates the family account, not the child.
